STUDIO

After completing training with Romana’s Pilates in 2009, I wanted to share my knowledge of True Pilates with the growing metropolis of San Antonio, Texas. No longer wanting to work on substandard Pilates equipment in a gym, I had the opportunity to purchase Gratz equipment and open my own studio. Starting in a small 425 sq. foot room in a Personal Training Studio, I was able to teach clients and show the distinction of equipment true to Joseph Pilates method. Not soon after I opened, did the business grow, and I decided it was time to move into a bigger space. Now Pilates Authentica is conveniently located on Highway 281 in North Central San Antonio. I am privileged to be the only studio in San Antonio to have Gratz equipment.

PEOPLE

I am the sole owner and instructor of Pilates Authentica. My brother, Ben Martinez, first exposed me to Pilates in 2000 and I immediately saw the changes in my body. Being an aerobics instructor and Personal Trainer, I didn’t incorporate stretching/flexibility in my workouts. Seeing how Pilates balances strength and flexibility, motivated me to continue learning about this newly found exercise discipline. Curiosity lead me to Romana’s Pilates as I wanted to be a teacher and share my knowledge with others.

EQUIPMENT

I noticed the difference between Gratz equipment and other manufacturers while working in a fitness center. My teacher trainer had the Gratz equipment in her house and when I started working out on other equipment, my body didn’t feel the same. It just wasn’t right. My clients were not seeing a change in their body similar to the change I was feeling working on the Gratz. Clients who had injuries or special accommodations were not getting better, sometimes they were getting worse. I knew that I needed to purchase Gratz equipment if I was going to be successful in changing bodies for the better.
