STUDIO

Pilates Personal Training is a private Pilates studio based in Sarasota, Florida and is owned by Christina Maria Gadar. The studio has been specializing exclusively in private instruction of the original Pilates Method since 2000. From the tiny 5 inch toe exerciser apparatus all the way to the 6 1/2 foot tall Cadillac apparatus, the studio has the very best in Gratz brand equipment. The studio features vaulted ceilings, bamboo floors, plenty of natural light, replicas of the original anatomy posters displayed in Joseph Pilates' New York studio, and a poster featuring Joseph Pilates himself doing a work out. Most importantly, there is always an up-to-date certificate of continuing education on display in the studio. As a second generation certified Pilates instructor, Christina promises her clients that they weill recieve Pilates instruction in its purest form, as Joseph Pilates delivered it to Romana Kryzanowska, and as Romana delivered it to Christina.

PEOPLE

A dual citizen of Brazil and the United States, Christina Maria Gadar was introduced to Pilates at the age of fifteen while a student at the Boston Ballet. During her ballet training she was coached privately for six years by world-renowned premier danseur Fernando Bujones and had the honor of performing the solo "Raio de Luz" which he choreographed specially for her. After receiving dance scholarships from the Massachusetts Arts Council and the School of the Boston Ballet, she went on to dance professionally with various ballet companies including the Sarasota Ballet of Florida where she met her husband. Ten years after her initial introduction to the Pilates Method she obtained her Pilates certification directly from master instructor Romana Kryzanowska in New York in 2000. She enjoys the balancing act of running her Pilates studio to the highest standards while staying actively involved int he lives of her two children.

EQUIPMENT

During my Pilates training I had the opportunity to work on various brands of Pilates equipment. Working on the other brands of equipment proved to be quite frustrating and dangerous. It became clear to me that when I would open my own studio, it would feature the Gratz brand exclusively. I started teaching with the Gratz Reformer apparatus in the living room of my one bedroom apartment. Later I moved into a two bedroom apartment and designated one of the bedrooms as a studio. I purchased each additional Gratz apparatus one at a time. When it came time to order the high chair I had run out of space, but I just put it in the walk-in closet! My experience establishing my studio allowed me and my clients to truly appreciate each and every apparatus. The line of Gratz Pilates equipment has the perfect dimensions, enabling the practitioner to get right into the powerhouse instead of staying only in the limbs. The motto for my studio is: "If you are going to do it, do it right" and part of "doing it right" means performing Pilates on the most authentic Pilates equipment on the market...Gratz.
