Kinetic Pilates is a classical Pilates studio in London, England, dedicated to remaining loyal to the method created by Joseph Pilates. Committed to high quality teaching and achieving results, we treat everyone as an individual by giving them the care and attention that they need to progress and feel a noticeable difference in their body. We pride ourselves on offering a personalized, friendly and rigorous approach to Pilates training. The studio is located in a historical mews property in North London and offers a quiet, spacious and inviting space to train, offering an escape in the heart of a busy city (except when doing the Hundred and Stomach Series, when there is no escape!)

PEOPLE

Rebecca Convey Kinetic Pilates opened in June 2008 as a centre dedicated to providing true classical Pilates. Now, in its third year, it has expanded to accommodate four teachers and a growing clientele. Kinetic Pilates remains faithful to the teachings of Joe Pilates as passed down by Romana Kryzanowska. All instructors at the studio have been certified in Romana’s Pilates, by Sari Mejía Santo and Juanita Lopez: both Romana’s Pilates Level 1 Master Instructors. The instructors at Kinetic Pilates include Rebecca Convey (Level V) James Palmer (Level V), Lulu Shepherdson (Level V) and Mark Boldin (Level V). They combine passion for classical Pilates (and Gratz equipment) with backgrounds and experience in professional dance, teaching and choreography, Occupational Therapy, recreational triathlon, Chinese martial arts and Chinese medicine. Our instructors are all dedicated to their own Pilates training and actively attend continuing practical education events around the world and constantly work to improve their own understanding of Pilates, both to enhance their teaching and to strengthen their own Pilates technique.

EQUIPMENT

Kinetic Pilates uses Gratz Industries equipment and is one of a very few studios in the UK which does. We have clients who have come to us specifically because they want to train on Gratz equipment. We believe that working on the original equipment, built to the designs of Joseph Pilates, is essential if we are to teach the exercises as he developed them: the two things cannot be separated. The flow of motion and variety of exercises possible on Gratz Equipment make it an invaluable asset to classical Pilates training and essential for anyone wanting to be faithful to the work of Joseph Pilates. We are in the business of transforming bodies and our work is made easier using Gratz as it helps to deepen the powerhouse and more effectively achieve the ‘Pilates Body’.
